Regret:
Think about it - if you don't do it, will you regret never doing it? Example - "I didn't go to University at eighteen, and regretted it for years". "In fact, I regretted it until the very day that I got my degree over twenty years later". In other words, if it is that important to you, you will always regret not doing it, and the only way to stop that feeling is to get on with it.
But it's too late:
No, it's never too late. People get married in their eighties, bungee jump in their seventies, start a new career in their sixties and even give birth well into their fifties. The only barrier is you. As long as you physically capable and are mentally tough enough, then why not?
What will others think?
Do you really care? You may think you do, but this is your life, and you have the right to live it as you choose. As long as you have thought through what you are doing, planned for any potential hurdles the best you can, and consulted those whom your decision may affect, then no-one can criticise you. The only thing they can be is admiring of you, or down right jealous, and that is out of your control. Remember, this is your life and no-one else's.
I feel sick with nerves:
Of course you do. And it may be that bad that you are physically sick. But nerves are good. We all hear of pop stars and actors who despite having performed for years are a wreck just before they go on stage. They know it will happen, and see it as a positive, a rush or adrenalin if you like. By being nervous, you are likely to go out and do your utmost. It's only natural to feel that way.
You Only Need Desire To Succeed:
Let me say to you, you can do anything you really want to. If you want it badly enough; whether you have the ability or not has nothing to do with it. It is how badly you want the end result. We have all seen the example of young people leaving school without qualifications. They might be unemployed or they might take a temporary job. Suddenly, they find a career they want to get into but need some qualifications. So they go back into a place of learning and retake their exams that previously they had failed dismally. But this time they pass. Why? Has their ability changed? No, of course not. But their desire has changed.
