Dealing With Excessive Stress - How to Handle Being Overwhelmed And Be Happy Now

Free Yourself from Overwhelm & Be Happy in Minutes!

I remember it well.

It was a Thursday, a few years back. I was in the kitchen happily preparing dinner when the horrifying news arrived. Little did we know it was the beginning of a landslide of horrifying news.

There had been a massive crash in the financial markets and one of our investments was completely wiped out. This was an unexpected body blow but we'd diversified and thought we were safe. Wrong!

As our investments scarily continued to slide in value, good husband scrambled to stop the bleeding. He did plug a lot of leaks but the bleeding continued and many of our investments became just a memory.

Ouch!

Not the most cheerful start to my story is it?

But like all good stories it does have a happy ending. I'll get to that soon.

When it's more than just feeling bad!

Well as you can imagine I wasn't feeling too good.

I felt shocked, depressed and dazed by what had happened. Caught up in a global financial crash-ye gods!

I simply felt terrible, the idea of starting all over again in my fifties was... OVERWHELMING!

Good husband is made of sterner stuff but he too was reeling from this massive set-back in our 'living the dream' plans.

The truth is we'd been looking forward to slowing down and doing the things we love to do. You know, simply taking time to relax, be with the family and enjoy ourselves!

Well those plans had just come to a screeching halt.

Now I'm the patient!

Just a bit of background. In my career as a nurse I'd met people experiencing all sorts of negative emotions. Stress, depression, worry, sadness, guilt, fear, you name it, someone was feeling it...

But the one feeling common to everyone was... OVERWHELM!

And now it was me, I was the one that was overwhelmed.

But I did what I usually do. I put a smile on my face and picked myself up and took action.

A fresh start was what we needed.

So we found high paying jobs half way round the world and off we went. We had a plan.

But despite the plan, the optimism and the massive action I really wasn't coping. And all it took for me to realize this was one small thing. I was checking my email and my computer froze... the final straw on this overwhelmed camels back.

Good husband found me slumped over my computer crying my eyes out, exhausted and defeated.

He fixed me up with a hug, a tissue, some chocolate and a question... "why aren't you tapping?"

What the heck is tapping?

Actually two good questions. What is tapping and why wasn't I doing it?

Well tapping, or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) as it's known, is a self-help tool that'll dump the doom and gloom literally in minutes. It's fast and it's easy.

But of course, only if you use it... mmm

I'd used it myself many, many times. And I'd used it to help family, friends and patients. I know it works on just about any problem, emotional or physical. Even when other main stream therapies simply fail.

And if you haven't heard of EFT and need reassuring, it's been signed off by the American Psychological Association' as meeting their standards. As well as that, psychiatrists, psychologists and therapists are using it in their practice in increasing numbers. Even they know it works!

So how does it work? In a nutshell... you simply focus on what's bugging you, then tap on various points of your body while repeating various phrases.

My favourite form of EFT is 'FasterEFT'. And I bet you can guess why I love that so much!

What's more, I'm a qualified Level 2 Practitioner, I believe in it, I've felt it work, I've seen it work. But was I using it myself? No!

The trouble was I had my blinkers on. I could see our goal ahead and in my headlong rush to get there I was completely oblivious to my own stress, anxiety, doubt, fear, yadda, yadda..

Well good husband got me to take the blinkers off and everything started to fall into place.

So what does FasterEFT have to do with overwhelm?

Put simply, it will stop you from feeling overwhelmed and dump those negative emotions.

By ignoring my feelings I was like a car in full acceleration with the brake on. Something was going to give, and did it ever. I absolutely had to slow down and simply let go of the overwhelm.

So how did I do that?

Well the first thing was recognizing that I was overwhelmed. Just realizing and accepting it is half the battle. After that came the 'tapping'. That flushed out the negatives and made room for the positives to come on in.

All I can say is thank goodness for 'good husband'.

The happy ending to this story...

Since then we've turned our lives around. And this all came about simply because we took the time to sit quietly. We realized we were both overwhelmed. And we realized we'd both benefit from some more tapping.

And then fate smiled on us as it does when you stop rushing, pushing and forcing and just let things flow.

One very fortunate day I was reading an inspiring and fascinating article on the internet by an amazing woman who has a ver successful online business. And then a few days later good husband asked me to watch a 'business opportunity' video, and can you guess who was presenting it?

That's right... the very same lady. Twice in a few days... hmm?

I don't believe in coincidences. Someone was trying to tell us something.

So we sat riveted, watching this exciting presentation on creating your very own business model for internet start-ups just like us.

The presentation felt right, the timing was right, the presenter felt right and we felt right, so we leapt right in!

That was in April 2012, and now here we are. From crying over my frozen computer to having a web based business with good husband, and the icing on the cake... being invited to write a guest article for this very successful lady on her website. Does it get any better than that?

We are now grateful, excited and full of anticipation and optimism.

We freed ourselves from overwhelm and found space to let happiness and miracles in! Oh, and I now remember to tap if I feel a stumble coming on. What about you?

Are you overwhelmed and don't realize it?

What's going to be your happy ending?

Time To Get Into Action...

Step One

Take your diary out and book 30 minutes each day to simply sit quietly.

· Somewhere where you won't be disturbed by phones, other people, or activity of any kind.

· No music, no TV, no headphones, no company, just you sitting quietly.

· A place where you feel at peace and undisturbed. Not your office or any space where you work.

Put it in your diary now.

Step Two

Consider... how did you feel when you were reading Step One?

· Did you laugh out loud at the idea of finding 30 minutes for yourself each day?

· Did you find yourself thinking of reasons why you wouldn't be able to do this?

· Did you feel stressed when you thought of 30 minutes being wasted like this?

OR... maybe you already do this. If you do what are you thinking while you sit quietly?

· Are you thinking about your next job, or what's waiting to be done?

· Do you feel restless or anxious?

· Do you feel relaxed, does this feeling stay with you over the day?

Step Three

Consider...

· Do you have your stress levels under control?

· Are you overwhelmed?

· Do you have a way to manage stress, overwhelm or any other negative emotion?

· Have you put your daily 30 minutes into your dairy? If not why not?

If you've discovered you're in overwhelm or you don't really have an effective way to manage your stress go and find something that appeals to you right now. The internet offers so much free help and you're sure to find something that inspires you.

Peace and Love to you
